I wanted Chris to help me plant a garden before he left for Iraq. So he started by building this box garden before we went on our cruise. We didn't have time to fill it with dirt before we left but when we got back my dad had ordered a truck load of dirt only half it fit in the garden that Chris made. We planted our box garden with all the stuff we needed to make salsa and then we had enough dirt so we planted on our little hill in the back corner of our property. We planted cucumbers, squash and pumpkins. We still had plenty of dirt left so Chris dug up some grass along our fence by our breakfast nook and we have another garden. In that garden we planted starwberries, beans, peas, potatoes, and lettuce. I am going to have my work cut out for me this year. So far only one mound on the hill has not produced a plant. The garden by the fence we just planted the other day so hopefully they will all produce. We already have 2 small tomatoes and a bunch of hot peppers. I am really excited. Chris and I have really enjoyed planting the gardens. We still have a ton of dirt left and the kids have been playing in it. The boys go out there on the dirt mound every chance they get. We also planted some trees around the yard. We planted a pear tree over by our breakfast nook in memory of the baby we lost in December. It has so many leaves on it now. It looks really pretty.
